Excerpt from “The Ghost Story of Jane Thornton” (The Skye’s the Limit)

The ghost story of Jane Thornton, which you may or may not be familiar with, is said to have taken place upon those darkly romantic moors which decorate the landscape of West Yorkshire, England.

You may never have been to this most haunting and intriguing part of the British Isles, yet I can only assume that as you are reading this text you are a keen enthusiast of literature and therefore more than possibly familiar with the works of the Bronte sisters who once lived there. If, however, you are not familiar with their moving stories of unrequited love and long-lasting sorrows, let me paint you a picture of the area.

What we now call Bronte Country is a small collection of idyllic yet shadow-filled English towns nestling in the dark, windswept hills where the literary sisters once lived. Within these towns you will find sloping cobbled streets, gothic graveyards and dusty English churches which will fill your mind with images of old England and the ghosts which it has left us.

You will also find the home of Jane Thornton.
