A Little Slice of Heaven
On board a ferry, slowly moving across the River Mersey, a young woman is struggling to regain her memory after a traumatic event. Along a dark road between the towns of Comber and Whiterock, on the eastern coast of Northern Ireland, a young man is desperately trying to escape a local tradition that threatens to upturn his life forever. Meanwhile, somewhere in the South West of England, a vicar is doing his very best to exchange his cup of tepid tea for a nice cold pint of beer.
In twenty stories, "A Little Slice of Heaven" takes you on a humorous, spooky, and occasionally tear-inducing tour of the British Isles. From porridge making festivals in the Scottish Highlands to Scouting trips on the English Channel, this anglophile collection of stories will provide you with a glimpse into the British way of life that is rarely seen.
Perfect for A2 level English language learners, these stories are also a fun diversion for anyone who is happy to laugh along at the eccentricities of the baffling Brits.
Summer Holidays
Summer Holidays is the first of PONS' 5-minute learners. Each story in the collection is made to be read in in 5 minutes by a learner of the chosen level; in this case A1. This makes the stories accessible and easy to manage for even very beginners.
More than this, these collections adopt the novel technique of placing the translations of key words above the chosen vocab, ensuring a more fluid and natural read.

Early in 2017, I was lucky enough to be chosen as the editor of a grammar learning exercise book for publishing house Pons. The book, written by EFL teacher Samuel Hemingway, acts as an educational aid to Germans hoping to improve their English grammar from a B1 level and up.
A colourful, interactive, and incredibly well-thought out grammar book, it was an honour to be able to assist with its production.
True Tales of Mystery
Two local policemen find burns and a strange green ointment on a dead body. Later, strange lights and a spacecraft appear in the night sky. Are aliens visiting?
The Bermuda Triangle has always been a mysterious place. Pilot Bruce Gernon flies over it, and then, strange things begin to happen. Will Bruce manage to survive?
Residents of Point Pleasant, in the USA, report multiple sightings of a terrifying figure with wings and red eyes. What does it want, and is anybody safe any more?
Fakes and Frauds
There have always been fakes and frauds throughout history – people who trick us into believing them. But these four confidence tricksters were exceptional. Gregor MacGregor tricked hundreds of people into buying land and sailing to Poyais, his invented ‘paradise island’. Frank Abagnale Jr made over $2,5 million pretending to be a pilot, doctor, lawyer and professor. Anna Sorokin funded a lavish lifestyle using borrowed money and fake documents. Elizabeth Holmes became rich by claiming to have created a unique medical device. After reading these stories – be careful who you trust!

Technology is everywhere, and we grow increasingly dependent upon it.
For the youth of today, a life without it is unimaginable, and they take for granted the many and varied things our devices and gadgets do for us.
Yet, as the genuine threat of AI looms ever more present, and as we isolate ourselves within a web of social networks and remote living, is the age of the machines taking more of our lives than we ever intended to give?
