Best of Crime Stories

Best of Crime Stories

I was absolutely honoured to find out that PONS wanted to create a Best of Collection of my crime stories. In early 2018 they asked me to handpick thirty of my previously published tales of murder and mystery. This book has been one of the highlights of my writing career so far. It does what it says on the tin, and not only entertains but can be a great companion for English language learners.

Tales of the Macabre

Tales of the Macabre

In Tales of the Macabre you can find three original horror stories suitable for brave young readers. Published by Burlington books and written by Dominic Butler, these tales are reminiscent of urban legends whispered about in school yards and joked about on camping trips. Yes, they might seem amusing enough in the daylight, but when you switch off that reading lamp at night, you just might hear a whistling coming from the nearby woods, or a the sound of dark laughter from just outside your window.

Lovers

Lovers

Lovers contains retellings of three of history's most romantic and heartbreaking tales: Rome and Juliet, The Legend of Robinhood and Maid Marian, and The Lovers of Teruel.
Dominic's contribution was the tale of England's favourite gentleman thief, Robinhood. His version of the tale highlighted the influence that Marian had on him when they were children, how her kindess and strenght inspired him to rob from the rich and give to the poor, and how, later in life, they fell and love and became inseparable in our collective imaginations.
